Himachal Govt Declares Holiday in Shimla on February 5

Keeping in view the disruption caused by heavy snow to normal life in Shimla during last two days, Himachal Pradesh government today late evening decided to declare holiday within the Municipal Corporation region tomorrow on February 5 of this year.

Sources in the state government said that the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur directed the Shimla Deputy Commissioner on phone from Mandi to announce holiday for tomorrow in Shimla city as a consequence of heavy snow causing hindrance to government employees to reach their offices as traffic has not yet been restored on the roads.

The DC Shimla Aditya Negi issued an order in the late evening asking state government employees working in Municipal Corporation region to treat Saturday, 5 February as holiday and need not come to their offices.

Shimla city is still cut off from the rural regions of the district due to heavy snow blocking all roads linking the City. Traffic in the town is completely disrupted by snow accumulating on the road.
In another order late evening, the state government declared two holidays for employees working in Delhi, one tomorrow on February 5 for Basant Panchami and second on October 25 For Goverdhan Puja.
